Microsoft Canada Co. and eBay.ca Ramp Up Online Auction For Highly Anticipated Xbox Video Game System

Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Canada

Toronto, ON. - Oct. 31, 2001 - MSN.CA and eBay.ca today announced an online auction in which Canadians will be given a unique opportunity to bid for sought after two Xbox(TM) video game systems. The contest will be promoted with banners and links on MSN.CA, Canada’s most popular Web destination with more than 5.8 million unique visitors every month*. Canadians can bid for two separate prize packages that will include Xbox console and controller, as well as Xbox game titles, clothing and other gear.

"eBay.ca is the online destination where Canadians shop for their ’must-have’ gifts," said Lorna Borenstein, General Manager, eBay.ca. "Xbox is one of the most highly anticipated items this holiday season, and we are thrilled that MSN.CA has chosen eBay.ca to host this unique charity auction." Xbox is Microsoft’s future generation video game system. Xbox offers unprecedented sound and audio capabilities in the video game console sphere including unparalleled graphics, broadband multi-player capabilities and 256 channels of audio with 64 channels in 3D.

"Xbox will be by far the hottest item for the holiday season this year," said Ryan Mugford, Marketing Lead - Xbox, Microsoft Canada Co. "As well, Microsoft has a long tradition of supporting good causes and providing Canadians with the opportunity to bid on two great Xbox prize packages in support of a national charity should have outstanding national appeal."

Two separate prize packages will be up for auction:

Prize package one: Snowboarding Rules!
Total Value: $922.21

Contents include: Xbox console and controller, Xbox game title: Amped(TM), Xbox music CD compilation, Year subscription to the Official Xbox magazine, Xbox touque, Hooded Sweatshirt, Xbox snowboard bag and an Xbox poster.

Prize package two: It’s an odd world after all Total Value:
$824.22

Contents include: Xbox console and controller, Xbox game title: Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee(TM), Xbox music CD compilation, Year subscription to the Official Xbox magazine, three cases of SoBe Beverages, Xbox Urban jacket and t-shirt, Xbox poster and an Oddworld: Munch’s Oddyseecharacter standee (large cardboard cutout).

The auction commenced on October 30th, 2001 and will run for 10 days, ending November 9th, 2001. Visitors can find the auction by visiting www.ebay.ca and clicking on the Xbox icon on the homepage. The prizes will be distributed following the launch on November 15.

Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada Proceeds from the auction will be donated to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada.
