Xbox Closing in on Lead
The CSFB has produced independent sales estimates of the rivaling consoles -- Microsoft’s Xbox, Sony’s PlayStation 2, and Nintendo’s GameCube. Sony continues to holds its lead in the console sales by only 28,000 unties, having sold 962,000 PlayStation 2 consoles between November 11 and December 8. Microsoft has sold 934,000 Xbox consoles since November 15th, beating the GameCube’s sold units of 602,000 since its launch date the 18th. As you can see, sales of the Xbox are going better than industry analysts predicted, saying Nintendo would crush Microsoft like a bad habit, and Sony would continue to leave both in the dust.
