Microsoft says Xbox on track for Japan,Europe salesLAS VEGAS, Jan 8 (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) is on track to begin selling the Xbox game console as scheduled in Japan and Europe in the next two months after a sell-out North American debut, the head of the company's game division said on Tuesday.
In an interview with Reuters, Chief Xbox Officer Robbie Bach said the company stood by plans for a Feb. 22 launch in Japan and a March 14 launch in Europe. ``Both of those are looking very positive,'' Bach said.
At the Consumer Electronics Show on Monday, Microsoft said it had met its goal of shipping 1.5 million units by the end of 2001, after the console's Nov. 15 North American launch.
