Acclaim Reports Losses!
Following the lead of Eidos earlier this week, Acclaim Entertainment released their fiscal losses and their outlook for next years titles to pull them through. Acclaim reported a net loss of US$131.7 million, or $2.36 per diluted share, for the fiscal year 2000 compared with net earnings of US$36 million in the same period last year. Revenues were down to $188.6 million compared with $431 million in fiscal year 1999. According to Acclaim, its losses were generated by delayed titles, low sales of Next Gen consoles and high selling titles that fell short in the sales department.
Acclaim plans to release 43 games during fiscal 2001 including 12 games for the PS2, 12 games for the PS1, 5 games for the Dreamcast, 7 games for the Game Boy Color, and 3 Game Boy Advance games. Add those up and you fall short of the number 43, of course you must factor in both PC titles and XBOX titles, both of which no numbers were given. Gamespot has the whole article up which you can read right here.
