Xbox Web Bits
I just love when loyal fans from our site pitch in and help us out by submitting news that they found around the net. Thanks guys! :) First up, Xbox Gamers have posted up an interview with Daniel Jeppsson the lead programmer at SouthEnd. Jeppsson talks about his company lastest title Deathrow. Take a peek below:XB: How long has Deathrow been in development for, and what made you guys decide to make the game Xbox Exclusive? DJ: Deathrow started out as Blitz - Disc Arena for the PC platform almost three years ago. When we last year got the opportunity to transform it to the Xbox we were very excited about the potential of Microsoft's next-gen console. And now, a year later, we are even more excited about the Xbox. The Xbox has helped us make Deathrow stunningly beautiful, even more than we could have hoped for!( Thanks, Proudxboxowner) Next, Xboxau.com has a press release stating that Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance has been confirmed for the Xbox.
Black Isle Studios, the award-winning RPG division of Interplay Entertainment Corp. and leading console game developer Snowblind Studios announced today their plan to bring the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance franchise to the Xbox video game system from Microsoft. "We recognize the tremendous demand for a game like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance on Xbox and don't want Xbox gamers to miss out on this thrilling gaming experience," stated Feargus Urquhart, President of Black Isle Studios. Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance features a distinctive blend of action and adventure set in the most popular Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting: The FORGOTTEN REALMS franchise owned by Wizards of the Coast Inc., a subsidiary of Hasbro Inc., and licensed to Infogrames Interactive. Faithful adaptation of the new Dungeons & Dragons rules set, customizable player characters and character development allow for an engrossing gameplay experience new to Xbox gamers. Dramatic spell effects and powerful abilities add to the flavor of this action-packed game and assist the player in combat against many terrifying monsters found in the adventure. "We are extremely excited about bringing Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance to Xbox," stated Ryan Geithman, Director of Snowblind Studios. "So far, we have yet to see this type of action-RPG game on Xbox. We believe Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance will be a unique asset to the system." Played from a third person perspective, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance immerses players in the port town of Baldur's Gate. Darkness has fallen upon the town and rumors of a Thieves' Guild civil war brew beneath the streets of the city. Entering this desperate situation, the player finds himself fresh to the city of Baldur's Gate and new to the world of adventuring. He soon learns that he stands in the way of one of the greatest threats ever to strike the town of Baldur's Gate and the entire region of The Sword Coast.( Thanks again, Proudxboxowner) Xbox2k has a write up and some pics of a new controller type device that allows you to connect a standard USB mouse to it, and play FPS's in a keyboard and mouse type fashion. ( Thanks, Corey) Last, but not least, Xbox Evolved speaks with Hunter Executive Producer Scot Lane about the game and what we can look forward to. Here's a taste:
Xbox Evolved: Why did you choose to make Hunter on Xbox, why not Gamecube or PS2? Scot: When we decided to make a game based on White Wolf's Hunter: The Reckoning license, we really decided to start a franchise. This was about the same time the Xbox was being started. It made the most sense to start a new franchise on a new next generation platform.(Thanks, NCUBEXTREME)
