Happy 4th of July
The Fourth of July -- Independence Day -- celebrates the political and religious freedom that U.S. citizens have enjoyed for almost 225 years. On July 4, 1776, the Declaration of Independence was signed by the members of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Its early passages are well-known: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
Let us not forget those who have fought and died both in the battlegrounds and in the streets so that you and I can have the freedoms and liberties that we all so much enjoy.
