Xbox Live Chat Undergoes Masquerade
Microsoft Corp. has selected Nellymoser, Inc.’s Masquerade software to enable an advanced voice chat feature on the company’s Xbox Live service expected to roll out this fall. Masquerade provides real-time voice masking capabilities for online and multiplayer games. Publishers using Masquerade can create titles where gamers can alter their voice characteristics to create an “interactive online persona.” Players will be able to match their voice to their online avatars physical appearance. "Nellymoser has given gamers a great gift here," said J Allard, general manager, Xbox Platform. "Developers are going to be able to let their imaginations run wild when they design voice masking elements in their games. For example, you could imagine a shy gamer sounding like an evil intergalactic overlord or a man with a baritone voice sounding like a high-pitched cartoon character.”Source: http://www.xboxaddict.com/
