MS Names Second Xbox Manufacturer
Microsoft Corp. has named Wistron Corp. as the second manufacturer of its Xbox system, joining current partner Flextronics International in making the next-generation videogame system. Wistron is the manufacturing arm of Acer Inc., an OEM partner of Microsoft. Production is scheduled to begin in Wistron’s Zhongshan, China facility before the end of the year. The facility will provide manufacturing services for Xbox, from parts to final packaged product, including parts procurement, assembly and integration, testing, and final box build. Par Singh, director of business development for Xbox at Microsoft said, "With Wistron and Flextronics on board, two superior partners, we are well prepared to meet the anticipated demand."
