Carmack and Perry Talk About Xbox
Voodooextreme has posted some comments that John Carmack of ID Software and Dave Perry of Shiny have made about Microsofts dream machine the Xbox. Here is what Carmack had to say about comparing the Xbox to the PS2:
XBox is going to be way more powerful and easier to develop for than PS2, but even now, it doesnt really "exist" in final form, so nobody can be giving completely solid statements. Its not that Microsoft is doing anything earth shaking, they are just doing a solidly good job with technology that is newer than Sonys.
Perry comments on the unveiling of the Xbox at CES:
It was great to finally see the X-Box at the show... I spoke on a panel with Kevin Bachus (the Phil Harrison of Microsoft - erm, well that was before Phil went AWOL back to the land of afternoon tea and scones.) It went well and it really is looking like Microsoft has a clean focus on this puppy. I keep trying to think of things they could do wrong, but after cornering the right guy, they seem to have a good strong plan of attack. That said, I gotta be nice to Microsoft cos I want one of those big CHROME "X" versions of the machine. :) I guess my only concern at this time is its price. But with a machine this good, I can see kids dumping their Razor scooters like hot potatoes to get the extra cash together.
