Games Domain talks with Jez San
Console Domain had the chance to speak with Chief Executive of Argonaut Games, Jez San. San is one of the masterminds behind one of the highly anticipated Xbox games, Malice. In the interview San speaks on a wide range of Malice goodness. Like this little copy and paste about Alice’s hammer.
GD: Is that the largest hammer ever seen in a videogame?JS: I believe it could well be right up there... but just you wait ’til you see the Quantum Tuning Fork! I have to say.. I absolutely love the hammer! You know, there are probably more polygons in THAT HAMMER than there are in an average Quake level (I may be exaggerating slightly, but really, I mean, that’s a complex Swiss-made instrument)! And those intricate parts & cogs all illuminate and self-shadow...which is one of the coolest and subtlest things I’ve seen in a long time. As the light moves around, or as Alice turns to face the lights, watching the glints on the hammer cogs are just plain cool - topped only by Alice inserting the clockwork hammer (which is secretly a key that gives you new spells) into the clockwork lock and watching the tumblers fall into place...with all the whirring sounds...love it!
