Bitstream Inc. and Electronic Arts, the world’s leading developer and publisher of video games, announced today that EA has signed an agreement with Bitstream. EA is licensing Font Fusion, Bitstream’s premier font rendering engine, and a set of Bitstream’s high-quality fonts for EA’s widely acclaimed gaming software. Recently released products, including NCAA March Madness 2003 and the PC version of MVP Baseball 2003, used Bitstream fonts. “As the market for interactive gaming continues to grow, font scaling and high- quality fonts become must-have features,” said Anna Chagnon, President of Bitstream. “Font Fusion, our most advanced font rendering engine, delivers outstanding technology to the computer and interactive gaming market. As markets develop worldwide, Bitstream’s Font Fusion will play a key role in the rapid acceptance of interactive games and applications. We are pleased to add Electronics Arts to our growing list of customers in this exciting market segment.” “As graphics continue to improve, the need for high-end, intuitive font rendering is important to maintain the authenticity of the gameplay experience,” said Brian Wideen, Senior Director Product Developer at EA Sports Canada. “Bitstream offers us another option that puts our fonts on par with the cutting-edge graphics we produce in our games.”Source: http://www.bitstream.com
