EA Gets License to 'Superman'
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The consumer products arm of movie studio Warner Bros. and comic book publisher DC Comics said on Monday they licensed the rights to video games based on the Superman franchise to Electronic Arts Inc. EA, the top games publisher by revenue, will have the right to develop and distribute games based on the forthcoming "Superman" film and any sequels, starting in 2004 and stretching across all gaming platforms. It was also granted the right to develop Superman games based on any comics or animated TV series related to the franchise. The most recent round of Superman games was published late last year and early this year by Franco-American publisher Infogrames Inc. Electronic Arts' stock gained 1.2 percent to $62.53 in morning trade on Nasdaq, while Infogrames shares, which have been surging of late on the strength of its slate of upcoming titles, were up 4.7 percent at $4.62, also on Nasdaq.Source: http://www.reuters.com/
