(RUMOR) - Ballmer says Xbox Next will arrive in 2006

Straight from the man! And then some Rumors Xbox 2 and Sega comments:
And he disclosed that the next Xbox will be launched in 2006, according to a prestigious Japanese newspaper, although he said that Microsoft won't plunge any money into Sega, despite rumors to the contrary. It will add some extra services to the Xbox Next, Ballmer told the newspaper.
And what is the deal with Japan?
Speaking to the Nihon Keizai Shumbun newspaper, Ballmer claimed that sales of the Xbox are stonking (maybe smoking or stoking?), everywhere, that is, but Japan.
Japanese need to get off their DDR machines and play some Xbox! (DDR is coming to the Xbox, btw.) :) More rumors from dehavilland.co.uk
Rumours had suggested that the next Xbox console might be ready for release in certain regions by as early as the end of 2004, but, as Microsoft has stressed that it wants to deliver a simultaneous launch on a global basis, it looks as though gamers could be in for a wait. Speculation suggests that Microsoft might be talking up a release in 2006, but aiming to produce the Xbox 2 earlier if possible, particularly as Sony is still struggling with the details of the PS3.
