Halo 2 First Day Live Stats Are In
The total number of simultaneous Halo 2 players on Xbox Live topped out at just short of 90,000 yesterday, according to the statistics page at Bungie.net. Now, on the morning of the games second day of release, the number has settled down to just over 20,000 -- presumably many of the players caught up in that initial 24-hour frenzy have had to return to work or school, or simply crash out for a few hours. For a comparison, close to 100,000 players are shooting it out in Counter-Strike at any given time today, according to the stats at Valves Steam website, so Halo does still have a while to go if its to equal the most popular PC online shooter. The total number of unique players signing on for a game since players got their first retail copies yesterday has well exceeded a quarter of a million, with more than half a million matches logged in the first 36 hours of the games release. We congratulate Bungie on what seems to be quite a successful debut for Halo 2s multiplayer game, and we look forward to seeing if it might cross the threshold of 100,000 simultaneous players online this weekend.Source: http://www.1up.com
