Director John Woo directs game

Hong Kong director John Woo - best known for the slow motion action scenes seen in the likes of Hard Boiled, The Killer and Face/Off - has become the latest movie creator to turn his attention to videogames, according to a recent Wired article. The feature, which focuses on a number of directors who are working on games, lists Woo as working on a title called ShadowClan with Tiger Hill Entertainment, which is due for release in late 2006. The game, which will presumably debut on next-generation platforms given the timeframe involved, is a "modern-day ninja tale" which follows a battle between rival gangs for control of New York. Woo is a co-CEO of Tiger Hill, which is based in Santa Monica, California, and has a strategic deal with publisher Sega, which presumably means that its efforts will be published by the Japanese firm. Earlier this month, another successful director announced his intention to start working on game titles, when Terminator and Titanic creator James Cameron spoke in a video presentation at the Game Develoeprs Conference about his plans to make a next-gen game in tandem with his next movie. Other directors working on games mentioned by the Wired article include George A Romero (Dawn of the Dead), John McTiernan (Die Hard), Bryan Singer (X-Men, The Usual Suspects) and John Singleton (Boyz N The Hood).
