The return of the prince
Scheduled for release in the second half of 2005, Prince of Persia 3 is the third volume in the award-winning Prince of Persia franchise. Blending the best features from the first two instalments (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within) with the "talent, vision and ingenuity of Ubisoft’s development teams", Prince of Persia 3 will "enliven the franchise with a vitality and plenty of unexpected twists that will impress and satisfy long-time fans and newcomers alike". OK. Ubisoft will show off the prince – and his new moves – at the E3 expo in Los Angeles next month. Creating sequels to best-selling franchises is always hard, lest you fall into the Police Academy syndrome, but Ubisoft reckons POP3 will be the best instalment yet, and that it will combine two playable characters that will see the Prince return, with his love, to reclaim his kingdom. During the journey, the prince’s girlfriend sacrifices herself for him and he is cast out onto the streets as a fugitive. Things soon turn ugly when the prince discovers that past battles have given rise to a deadly Dark Prince, whose spirit gradually possesses him.
