Xbox 360 Backwards Compatibility
After weeks of holding back, Microsoft confirm Xbox backwards compatibility for the Xbox 360... It’s perhaps the one question that has been on the lips of gamers around the world ever since the news of Microsoft’s next-generation machine - Will the Xbox 360 be backwards compatible with the original Xbox? Tonight at their pre-E3 event, it was revealed that the answer to that question was…yes. Following the news, what can only be described as a rapturous applause broke out across the Shrine Auditorium, and only when that had died down sufficiently, could we all settle back and continue to watch the show. With Sony confirming earlier in the day that the PlayStation3 would provide backwards compatible functionality, the news continued to solidify the foundations of Microsoft’s intent to dominate the next-gen console wars. It’s not yet known whether the HDD is needed to play Xbox titles as the rumours have previously suggested, however we’ll have clarification on the subject very soon.Source: http://wwww,total videogames.com
