E3 2005: Microsoft Lineup Highlights

E3 2005: Microsoft News Conference Lineup Highlights Ever since Microsoft has shown one of its proverbial hands, the gaming world has literally been in a frenzy to find out more about the Xbox 360’s future. If you’ve been following our coverage, we’ve revealed several fundamental highlights including the final design, hardware specs, the new-and-improved Xbox Live and several high-profile titles. Electronic Arts is among of several companies that are committed to offering a broad lineup for the Xbox 360 including Madden NFL 06, Need for Speed Most Wanted, FIFA 06, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06, The Godfather: The Game and NBA Live 06. This evening, the company announced at the conference that the system will also be backward-compatible with the top-selling Xbox games. In addition, over 160 games are currently in development for the Xbox 360, with 25 to 40 titles slated for release later this year. The conference also gave some attention to the existing Xbox library, showcasing several upcoming games in video form. Here’s a list of what was showcased: Half-Life 2 Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas Batman Begins Hitman: Blood Money L.A. Rush Kingdom Under Fire: Heroes Conker: Live & Reloaded Burnout Revenge Battle Angel The Incredible Hulk Crash Tag Team Racing TimeShift Destroy All Humans! Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Madden 06 Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend Conflict: Global Terror From Russia With Love Star Wars: Battlefront II Shifting gears back to Microsoft’s upcoming platform, the big crowd pleaser was undoubtedly Dead or Alive 4, which has been confirmed as an Xbox 360 exclusive. The company also announced several other titles currently in development. The lineup is as follows: Blue Dragon (Microsoft Game Studios, Mistwalker) Call of Duty 2 (Activision) Condemned: Criminal Origins (Sega, Monolith) Dead Rising (Tecmo, Team Ninja) The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (Capcom) Full Auto (Sega, Pseudo Interactive) Gears of War (Microsoft Game Studios, Epic Games) Kameo: Elements of Power (Microsoft Game Studios, Rare) Lost Odyssey (Microsoft Game Studios, Mistwalker) Ninety-Nine Nights (Microsoft Game Studios, Q Entertainment/Phantagram) The Outfit (THQ, Relic Entertainment) Perfect Dark: Zero (Microsoft Game Studios, Rare) Project Gotham Racing 3 (Microsoft Game Studios, Bizzare Creations) Quake 4 (Activision, id Software and Raven Software) Saint’s Row (THQ, Volition) Test Drive: Unlimited (Atari, Eden Games) So there you have it.
