Bach Expects 50% Of 360 Owners To Go Live
Speaking with Famitsu, Xbox senior vice president Robbie Bach expressed his hopes for expanding the number of Xbox Live users with the launch of the Xbox 360. Currently, only 10% of Xbox owners are Live subscribers (we’re not sure if this number includes users with trial subscriptions). While that’s still 2 million people, Bach believes that with the addition of the Xbox 360’s “Silver” package, Microsoft can get 50% of the next-gen consoles’ owners online. It probably won’t be difficult for Microsoft to gain this level of support since broadband is becoming more popular for household users. This doesn’t mean that half of all Xbox 360 owners will be battling it out across the Live network, but at least the “free” Silver package gives users access to the Xbox Live Marketplace...Source: http://www.joystiq.com/
