Midnight Xbox 360 Launch Events At GameStop
GameStop Corp. said Wednesday that the electronics retailer will host midnight launch events for the Xbox 360 at over 1,600 U.S. locations. The festivities will start at 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 22, the official launch day of the Xbox 360. Energy drink manufacturer Red Bull will be present at over 250 GameStop locations to pump up customers. "GameStop is proud to offer our customers a celebration as we bring to market the exciting new Xbox 360," said Jack Beuttell, GameStop’s Senior Vice-President of Marketing. Microsoft announced Monday that the Xbox 360 will see 18 games and 13 accessories on launch day. "This holiday season promises consumers 18 titles that demonstrates the power and versatility of the platform," indicated Dan Dematteo, GameStop’s Vice-Chairman and Chief Operating Officer. GameStop’s online division raised eyebrows be selling Xbox 360 bundle packages that peaked at $4,000. The e-tailers has since sold out of all bundle configurations. Remaining online stores including GameStop’s EBGames division, Walmart.com, Bestbuy.com, and Amazon.com are sold out of Xbox 360s. Circuitcity.com will sell a limited quantity of Xbox 360 bundles starting this Friday. Retailers nationwide have begun to sell Xbox 360 games, accessories, and Xbox Live offerings at retail in advance of the launch.
