Xbox 360 Gets Physical
Images of kids sitting around playing on games consoles instead of getting exercise could be a thing of the past, thanks to a controller that lets you fight as if you are in the game. French company XKPAD, which has created the unusual BodyPad controller, claims that playing 15 minutes of video games using its device burns as much energy as 27 minutes of running. The device has pads that fit onto players elbows, knees, hands and waist and can translate physical moves into computer game actions. "BodyPad is the result of more than three years of research and development and hundreds of studies with gamers of each fighting game on the market like Tekken, Dragon Ball Z, Virtua Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, Soul Calibur, and much more," said a statement by XKPAD. "99 per cent of combos are really achievable by your own body moves." The controller works for Sonys PlayStation and Microsofts Xbox 360 consoles and XKPAD said that BodyPad is also compatible with some sport and dance games. The product currently sells in Europe, and XKPAD plans to expand to the US and Asia following the E3 trade show in Los Angeles.Source: http://www.vnunet.com/
