E3: FEAR Impressions
We went looking for the Xbox 360 F.E.A.R. port, what we found was Instant Action. The mode, exclusive to the Xbox 360, has been designed to showcase F.E.A.R.'s acclaimed AI. Each Instant Action level is divided into sectors. Clear a sector of its enemies, and move on to the next. After you've cleared all sectors, you'll receive a score based on your performance. That's it, no freaky stuff, just action. It was immediately apparent that, in this build, the visuals were not up to par with the stellar PC original. But we were assured that the polish had not yet been applied. Given that the game is not slated for release until Q4 2006, we're confident that this is true. What's important is that the AI experience from the PC version is intact. Where instant action-type scenarios are often boring in other shooter games, here Instant Action is a joy. Enemies are relentless, skillful, and satisfyingly difficult to defeat. And we're pleased to report that the solid controls allowed us to successfully engage this challenge.Source: http://www.joystiq.com
