Best Buy offers empty-handed PS3 buyers 360's
In an article published at GameSpot on Nov. 14 titled, Rumor Control: Best Buy offering 360 deal to luckless PS3 seekers?, the consumer gaming site reported that according to Best Buy corporate offices and a local Best Buy store, the electronics retailer would not offer an Xbox 360 promotion to empty-handed PS3 buyers and that our report, published on Nov. 12, was false. To re-confirm our initial report, the information was obtained from a 25-page internal Best Buy document titled, "Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii Launch Day and Midnight Openings Official Playbook", which details the retailer's protocol for selling the products at launch. In a section titled, 'What do we do when you run out of tickets and have more people in line?', page 18 reads: "Like in past launches, you'll run out of tickets before you run out of customers. There's a launch day offer for customers who waited in line and didn't get a PS3 but still want a high-definition gaming solution." The explanation is accompanied by the following information bullets: * Three days only – Buy an Xbox 360 Pro System and two Xbox 360 software titles ($49 or more), and get a third Xbox 360 software title (of equal or lesser value) free. * Value Package ID 37280. * Offer valid Friday, Nov. 17, through Sunday, Nov. 19.
