GamePro Expo Gets Final Name And Price
Media group IDG (GamePro magazine, Macworld) has officially named its major L.A. Convention Center-based consumer gaming event the Entertainment for All Expo (or “E for All” Expo); $100 attendance fee confirmed. The event is headed up by former E3 organizer Mary Dolaher, who now works for IDG World Expo as executive VP. She says that the event will be beneficial to both consumers and participating game companies. “For companies that produce and develop games, interactive toys, and all things related, our goal is that 'E for All' will foster promotional and relationship-building opportunities that only face-to-face contact can create,” says Dolaher. As a consumer-focused expo, E for All will be open to the public at a fee of $100 per ticket for full three-day access to the various events held at the expo, Dolaher confirmed to Next-Gen. IDG World Expo organizes a variety of conferences and events, including Macworld Conference & Expo and LinuxWorld Conference & Expo. Originally revealed as the “GamePro Expo,” event organizers at IDG World Expo decided to hold a public contest to name the show. IDG chose “E for All Expo” out of over 3,000 suggestions taken during a contest at consumer gaming site GamePro.com. Dante Padre of California, who submitted the winning name, says the title reflects the open-to-all nature of the event. Dolaher said that a couple of the losing entries included "Verge" and "Verge X," but E for All was the unanimous winner. E for All will be held at the L.A.C.C. October 18-20, 2007, just as the holiday gift-buying season ramps up. Attendees will be able to buy exhibitors’ products from the show floor. Dolaher wasn't yet ready to announce exactly which companies are participating as contracts are being worked out. Other highlights at the event will include hands-on opportunities to try out the latest games and gadgets, videogame tourneys, a job fair and “family-friendly offerings.” Video Games Live, a live performance of videogame music, will also be part of E for All. Dolaher said that other events held during the expo will be announced in the future. E for All is endorsed by the Entertainment Software Association.Source: http://www.next-gen.biz/
