Blood Wake Preview

Ign has put together a hands on preview for Stormfront Studios upcoming boat Battle-rama, Bloodwake.
Running at a clean, smooth 60 FPS, the thing that will hit you first is the fact that the draw-in distance is absolutely incredible. When you’re sitting smack in the middle of a lagoon in your boat, looking at the surrounding areas, you’ll feel as if you’ve been dropped into the middle of a real body of water, and the cool part is, much like RockStar’s Smuggler’s Run, if you can see something waaaaay off in the distances, chances are you kick your craft into gear and go check it out.

Actually, a big part of the fun is just maneuvering your craft around. The water effects in this game are quite dynamic, and we experienced everything from calm seas to huge 20 ft waves during our demo, and trust us, a big part of the challenge will be just getting from "A" to "B" depending on the conditions at hand. If a wave or wake is big enough, your ship will leave the water and catch air appropriately, so there are a lot of things to factor in while making your way through the levels that would never come to play in a ground-based game like V-8 or TM. If they can pull off some solid encounters, this aspect should be one of Blood Wake’s biggest plusses.
