Microsoft XNA Man Satchell Promoted
Microsoft has promoted XNA general manager Chris Satchell to chief technical officer of the companys Interactive Entertainment Business, the firm said Tuesday. The change is effective immediately.
In his previous role as general manager for XNA (Microsofts game development toolset), Satchell headed up efforts to aid game makers in developing titles for Microsoft platforms.
Satchell has also been a proponent of community-developed games for Windows as well as Xbox Live Arcade.
According to Microsoft, in his new position Satchell will be "responsible for driving IEB’s overall technical vision, strategy, and tactical execution..." Hell report directly to IEB senior VP Don Mattrick.
Satchell, who joined Microsoft in 2002, will also work closely with Shane Kim, the former Microsoft Game Studios head who was recently promoted to VP of strategy and business development.
