New Call of Duty Outsells CoD4 by More Than 2 to 1

The title – bookies favourite to be Christmas number one – has gone to the top of the All Formats charts in the UK, according to data from GfK Chart-Track.

Games from publisher Activision Blizzard account for 25 per cent of all sales for the week ended November 15, with World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King taking the number two spot and becoming the fastest-selling PC title in the UK.

Guitar Hero: World Tour also broke into the top ten with the release of full band packs, at number six.

It was also a strong debut for Sega’s Football Manager 2009, entering the charts at number three and becoming the fastest-selling title in the series.

Sales of last week’s number one, Gears of War 2, dropped 64 per cent as the game dropped to number four in the charts.

Two new releases that didn’t make the top ten were Nintendo’s Wii Music which managed 16th position and EA’s Mirror’s Edge at number 20.

Sony’s big releases from last week – LittleBigPlanet and MotorStorm 2: Pacific Rift – fell down the charts after their debut week, sitting at 19 and 35, respectively.

Tom Clancy’s EndWar, also released last week, dropped to number 39.

The top ten All Formats titles in the UK follow:

  • 01. Call of Duty: World at War
  • 02. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King
