Pachter Predicts $50 Price Tag for Project Natal
How much are you willing to pay for controller-less gaming?
Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter wrote in his monthly Pachters Podium column that Project Natal will have a relatively low price point compared to Sonys Motion Controller (or The EyeWand, as he calls it).
"I think that Natal will cost $50, as it only really involves a camera (a three-lensed camera, but a camera nonetheless)," he wrote. "The EyeWand, on the other hand, involves a camera and two controllers, so it may be slightly more expensive. I would be surprised if the EyeWand retails for more than $100. Neither impacts the other, as neither is intended to compete with the other."
Microsoft has yet to confirm the price of Project Natal, however, the companys president of entertainment Robbie Bach said recently the cameras price will be on a curve, meaning it could start at a higher price point before being discounted over time.
$50 seems a little too low considering Nintendos latest Wii remote bundle and Nunchuk runs for $70. Microsoft would be wise to keep the camera under $100, though.
