EA Confirms Dead Space 2

An open secret since soon after the release of the first game, Dead Space 2 will see a return of hero Isaac Clarke and the hordes of Necromorphs. If earlier reports are to be believed, it’s to be the second part of a planned trilogy. A Wii spin-off, Dead Space: Extraction, was released earlier this year to critical acclaim.

The original Dead Space was no slouch either, earning an 8.7 as it became one of the hottest new properties of 2008 and one of the best survival horror games in years.

"We’re thrilled to jump back into the series, making the next chapter in Isaac’s journey," said Executive Producer Steve Papoutsis in an enthusiastic outburst.

"The infection continues to spread throughout space and our hero Isaac Clarke is the only person able to contain it," he carried on, "There are still loads of Necromorphs that need killing. In Dead Space 2, not everything is exactly as it seems. Expect plot twists that will surprise you and a huge cast of twisted, disgusting monsters that are sure to scare the daylights out of you."

Other details on the game – including a release window – are scarce, but expect to hear more in the coming months.
