First 3D Gaming Summit Announced
Organiser of the event, Unicomm, says it aims to explore how the $50 billion global games industry aided by new technologies like stereoscopic 3D, are bridging the gap between interactive and linear entertainment. The event is scheduled for April 21-22, 2010 at the Hilton Universal City, in Los Angeles.
“It is clear games have driven entertainment for the last many decades. Interactive entertainment is both more challenging and more satisfying. The advent of stereoscopic 3D only amplifies the intensity and immersion in the actual experience,“ said Bob Dowling, Conference Chair. “When stereoscopic 3D is in the consumer’s home through 3D enabled television the game industry will again take a significant leap forward.”
John Golicz, CEO of Unicomm, added, “Consumers are leading the way to pervasive 3D entertainment. With the worldwide success of 3D movies like James Cameron’s Avatar, and the deluge of 3D product announcements at the upcoming International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) its clear that 3D is accelerating its march into the home. Video games will lead the way.”
