I don't think you have an 89 reputation, especially if you didn't do the main quest. I just finished the main quest, and now have a rep of 60. So you must be confused.

I just got morrowind yesterday, mine is 9. I always get put in jail for pickpocketing and stealing, and trying to sleep in people's beds. So thats a good way to get a rep.
PS: i am one poor punk, i only have like 50 gold. How do i make some money other than stealing and quests?
