there is no modem support for the Xbox, it has built in broadband support, but it will not have any support at all for 56k modems

Maybe someone will come up with a third-party USB modem.

Yeah, someone's probably working on it now, I'm suprised there haven't been more response with this system from the third party.

from what I have read, Microsoft won't liscence any modems for the Xbox, they want the online games to be mostly lag free. Not sure if its true, but I remember reading that, just now sure how official it was.

Hey, just out of curiousity - how much does Broadband cost in America....?

Here it cost about £200 ($290) installation and £30 a month ($45)...... is that expensive or not?

Not many people have broadband in the UK....
...many people are sharing broardband with neighbours...
...getting it installed into one house and spilting the cable....
...and sharing the bill - good idea......!?!
....but I sadly, have no neighbours at the moment.

    Thanks

I heard that a 3rd party company is making a modem for GameCube...I think it is a pull-starter, though

I think Microsoft was very smart by making it broadband only. This will prevent lag on online gaming, and you can tell that they are already looking into the future. I have broadband, and that I know of, it's not that expensive. Speaking of broadband modems... remember when one came out for DC and it was like 150 bux? That was a marketing mistake...

Microsoft thought of everything by watching all of the other companies make mistakes

I pay $40/month for my cable modem connection. According to NetState (from www.analogx.com) I get an average of 1.5-3MB/s down. I never paid attention to upload speed.
