    Default V-Rally-3 shipped for xbox

    V-rally 3 Better than Rallisport???

    Official website http://www.vrally3.com/

Atari has shipped the latest installment of the hugely successful "V-Rally"
racing series -- "V-Rally 3" -- to the Xbox video game system from Microsoft.
With more than 4 million units in the series sold to date, "V-Rally 3" -- already
a hit on Sony PlayStation 2 -- promises to be the most authentic rally racer
    on Xbox.

"`V-Rally 3' presents an incredible range of tracks, fully detailed cars and a
powerful game engine that allows for stunning graphics on Xbox," said
Jean-Philippe Agati, senior vice president and head of Infogrames, Inc.'s
Los Angeles studio. "The vast array of interactive tracks, challenging AI and
intuitive controls will satiate any rally fan's desire for realism while at the same
time maintaining the fun that made the `V-Rally' series a worldwide leader in
    racing games."

In the game, players pilot highly detailed cars across meticulously hand-crafted
tracks, created to produce unprecedented racing realism. Scurrying spectators
run from oncoming speedsters while deformed car parts fly off during collisions,
making tracks and races come alive as never before.

All of the most coveted rally cars on today's circuit are included, including the
Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 7, Citroen Xsara, and the Ford
Focus. Gamers have the ability to customize each one to their own unique racing
    strategy and style.

Three modes take gamers through the most extreme driving conditions including
mud, snow, rain, standing water, bright sunshine and ice. Single and multiplayer
versions of Time Attack and Challenge modes are included, as is the all-new V-Rally
mode. "V-Rally 3" for Xbox is available at North American retail outlets for an
estimated retail price of $29.95 and an ESRB rating of 'E' for everyone.

The texturing in that doesn't look half as good as Rallisport. Well.. the car models look decent, but a lot more work could have been put into the environment and the environmental effects. Honestly I think xbox is hitting the saturation point with racing games. Time to branch out and explore some new genres.

I hope you're not judging by these particular screen shots.
    ( I reduced them to 640 x 480 ) I know what you mean by
the multitude of racing games on the box though...

I just picked up this game is it's not every good. Hit a bump in the side of the road and your cars takes on supernatural physics. Graphics are nice....enviroments look like paintings, and you won't see too many repeated textures, but there is massive slowdown at times, the textures are dull, and polygon counts are generally low.

The back of the box says that cars are made up of 15,000 polys, which is BS. They offer no reflection mapping, wheels and things that should be round are still angular.

Wth happened to this title? Test Drive V-Rally on the Dreamcast (although the controls were a bit floaty) was a pretty good game. This new one kind of kills off the series.

It doesnt matter if you shrank the pictures or not, the textures on the road and background are flat, grainy, and don't seem to fit together right. The least they chould have done was add some decent bump mapping to make it look semi realisting. That dirt road looks like stuff back from the n64 days.

Based on previous V Rallies I can't imagine this installment to have made such a leap that it can go head to head with RSC or CMR 3.....Always felt that V Rally was more arcade rally than simulated rally ......A funny game but not very realistic ...as it were.
    I'm happy to 0wn:
Halo | Dead or Alive 3 | RalliSport Challenge | Project Gotham Racing | Hunter: The Reckoning | Enclave | Buffy The Vampire Slayer | Splinter Cell | Moto GP | Colin McRae Rally 3 | Tao Feng | Dark Angel | Midtown Madness 3

    Looking forward to:
Halo 2 | Deus Ex 2 | DOOM 3 | Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Damn! That disappointing. I had high hopes for this game, as I
love rally racers....Maybe I'll wait a month or two & pick up a preowned copy for $12 or so...

Thanks for the heads up skyfinchy & Kraft !

    As I suspected after trying V Rally 3 it is a joke...really.

It looks like an early beta of i don't know what and the cars are crap to handle and ugly. Only okay thing is the scenery which is kinda nice looking. I would NEVER buy this......pooduh.

Play CMR 3 instead...that game is the best rally game ever IMO

Okay...So If I'm getting this correctly, the best rally games on the box are (in order ) are...

    1) CMR 3
    2) Rallysport Challenge
    3) Rally Fusion:Race of Champions
    4) V-Rally 3

    Right?

Cool! Thanks Vuldarak. I never did get V Rally3. The day I went
to purchase it, Gamestop was sold out. (lucky Me) Anywho...
Has anyone played Mercedes-Benz World Racing?

Some of the screens look semi photo-realistic while others look
    like something from Nintendo...

V-Rally 3 better than Rallisports Challenge? HELL NO

I have both, and I've given up on V-Rally 3, the controls are way to senseative, the graphics are horrible compared to Ralli Sport. And just over all RS is the better game.

I'm selling V-Rally 3, anyone want it? *utter silence* No?
