Yes, you need a credit card,debit card,check card etc...

I'm not sure about what's stated above about buying a pre-paid credit card. I haven't seen those myself.

no no no...you can buy xbox live subscriptions in a store...instead of using a credit card you put the number of the card you bought in and its paid for.

You dont need to have a credit card, as someone else said, those pre-paid cards work well. Hopefully you can join me soon. On XBL that is. lol

when i first get xbox live it comes with a free 12 months card can i use that without using a cc or do i have to buy a pre-paid card and throw the one that came with my xbox away?

Actually, dude...that's not accurate at all. That 12 month subscription card is to renew your XBox Live subscription when it expires. It costs $49.99 instead of $69.99...and the reason for the lower price is because people won't need to repurchase a headset, etc.

No matter what, XBL requires a credit or debit card. This is primarily for downloading new content that actually costs something...it's rare for a cost, but, it says it bold and clear if it costs money. I haven't seen anything exceed $4.95...and that was for a new course in Links 2004.

Also, if you still think I'm in error, please tell me where...because I work at an electronics retailer and we sell those things with the intention of only renewing XBL subscriptions. They cannot be used as a replacement credit/debit card.

u can buy a 12 month subscription at best buy or another electronics store.....I think you still need to enter a credit/debit card # though.

These are some user reviews from ebgames.com. no, i dont know for a fact that you dont need a credit card...but these guys used one of these subscription cards and apparently they didnt need one.
