Default Xbox sales more than double after price cut

Sales of Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox video game console have more than doubled since a price cut last week, one financial analyst said Wednesday, confirming industry beliefs that lower prices would boost sales sharply in the short term.

"Our channel checks indicate the recent $30 price cut on Microsoft's Xbox (from $179.99 to $149.99) is causing a significant pickup in Xbox hardware sales," Southwest Securities analyst Arvind Bhatia said in a note. "We believe first-week retail sales of Xbox hardware, post-price cut, were more than double the weekly sales before the price cut."

Prior to the holliday season I thougt that they shoulda droped it down then. They woulda got a lot more consoles in a lot more livingrooms. It seems to me that all they gotta do is get folks to check the system out. It's superior & makes a fine addition to any home entertainment center.

I think It'd go a long way in kickin @$$ in the next round.

That's good news! Other than that (price drop)... If not now! I think it will sell even more when the rest of the games we have all been waiting for finally start coming out.... I'm sure Ninja Gaiden attracted some people to be new Xbox owner's.... If not, boy are they missing out!

    Hurrah for Xbox!

They need to do the same in Europe now, they've said they haven't got any plans but when you look at everything that's gonna be coming down in the next couple of months, it makes sense.

Yeah I got my old one at 300. Ah well, we got two free games and a controler so I'm not complaing.

Gosh. Double up is HUGE! If all of those consoles turn into the 8+ games / Console like OXM has been telling us, Micro$oft won't be nipping at sony's heels anymore, M$ will be stepping on their face!
Who do you think would win in a fight? Bill G, or Hirotsu Nakachaki? Er... whatever his name is...
