KINGPIN 2 NAILED FOR PC AND XBOX
Interplay reveals a sequel to the controversial PC FPS, plus hints at a revival of Descent and Earthworm Jim franchises
15:02 Interplay has revealed that sequel Kingpin 2 is in existence, according to reports on the Internet. Mention of the game was made in a recent investor conference call, the company stating that the follow-up to the then Xatrix's - now Gray Matter Studios - first-person shooter on PC is heading to PC and Xbox.
The original Kingpin was released back in 1999, the game creating a minor storm at the time thanks to its controversial content. A modern-day gangster/gangland theme and a gritty underworld of corruption, greed, vice murder were married with plenty of foul language and extremely violent gameplay.
No word on a release date for Kingpin 2 from Interplay, nor indeed on who may be handling development. But assuming that content will be similar to that appearing in the original and considering the echoes of Kingpin's theme in the hugely successful GTA series, the publisher could be onto something good.
