Halo 3 not coming in the same day of PS3

Microsoft has been uncharacteristically reticent about its big-name franchise; the only bits of information have been from Bill Gates, who said to Time Magazine, "it's perfect ...the day Sony launches, and they walk right into Halo 3." Microsoft has since quashed that statement, saying that the release date has not been pegged down.

Although the game will be outside of the Xbox 360 launch timeframe, Microsoft will likely shoot for a date close to or before the launch of the PlayStation 3--the PS3 will launch in spring 2006 in Japan, and probably fall 2006 for its stateside debut.

okay. so it doesnt come out on the day...but within weeks of. Good enough for me. This tokyo game show, and microsoft press conference are gonna be surprising.

I myself can wait... microsoft doesn't want its xbox to look like a "one hit wonder" type system always relying on Halo to draw in a crowd. We all love halo, but im sure we can wait with all the great titles coming out for the 360 ESPECIALLY Final fantasy which i can hardly wait for. There are sooo many new games coming out that look unbelievable that ATM i don't care when halo3 is coming

So who thinks sony is going to try and finagle another exclusivity deal with Rockstar for GTA and also for it to be a launch game?

I don't care about GTA series since GTA 2, so repetitive IMO.

I think it could possibly suck out the hype from most existing X360 owners who thought about buying a PS3 at launch, if they release Halo 3 within a week or two before them. [IMO]

But I doubt it would affect the one console only Play Station fanbots though....

I think skorp has the idea, Maybe Halo 3 will just wow the 360 owners so they stick with the X360 longer.

If PS3 is in short supply its a brilliant idea. People will walk into game stores looking for a PS3 and have to take a hard look at a 360 and Halo 3 or walk away empty handed since there will be no PS3's to buy.

If there are enough PS3's to go around then releasing it before would probably be better.

Maybe they plan to keep an eye on Sony's production and then decide.
