Default Just watched the GTA San Andreas Mod!!

It's on gametrailers. I have to admit that it should not be in a game that a kid can get a hold of. However, as a parent if I knew that was in a game my kid wouldn't have it. The responsibility starts with the parent and then the community. Whoever put that mod out is not doing their part.

How would a "kid" get ahold of one of the most violent and controversial video games out there anyway? Yea, forget about all the violence in the game, the sex scene spoils the game!!!!!!222424144

I just watched it, too. In fact, I think I learned a new move and I'll have to teach my wife that flip move...nice!

But, with all humor aside, I would be shocked if Rockstar really put that in. That's pretty ridiculous...and Scorpion makes an excellent point: kids shouldn't have the game in their hands in the first place.

dont you have to be 18 to buy the game anyway? and funny how thats the same age you need to be to have legal sex and to watch porn. HOW CONVENIENT!

yeah, kids shouldnt have the game in the first place but the truth is that they do and Rockstar makes games knowing it is inevitable. i still dont see the big deal about the mod though. kids shouldnt have the game but they do, what can you do about? its the parent's fault.

From the mouth of a man with common sense. How does a 15 year old get beer? How does a 12 year old get cigarettes? They find a way. I know noone here is naive enough to think that if a kids' parents don't buy it they can't get it.

fo sho! you also have to take into accout that most retailers rarely enforce the age limit when selling goods. Especially places like Wal-Mart and Target, they are really lax there when it comes to selling inappropriate games/goods to minors.

I'm with Max on this, I doubt Rockstar actually put this in the game, better chance that it was something the developers did for "There eyes only" that got leaked, the times we live in.

Also, I go with parents being to blame. I know everything my kids play, because "I play with them" be part of your childrens lives people and stop blaming the developers for your parental shortcomings.

Not to mention do you really want the government telling you what you can play, watch, and listen to in the privacy of your own home? NOT!!

I'll make that choice as a "Responsible" parent.

    Game On!!

Which is my point. However, I see it like this, first responsibility goes to the parent. Next the community. I could keep trash out of my house but my kid can go to someone in the communitys' house who has allowed their child to have let's say GTA. My kid plays it everytime he goes over there. He is exposed to some things in a videogame that maybe he shouldn't be. How do I as a parent stop that? I can't lock my kid in a cellar. The only thing I'll say is that we as parents have to teach our children fact from fiction, reality from fantasy, right and wrong, and hope they make good choices and decisions in life. And choose to not want a game that has explicit material in it.

That part is still debatable as last I heard Rockstar claims it took some severe reverse-engineering (?) (reverse somethin don't remember) and such to get that into the game, whereas the mod-makers claim they simply unlocked it.

Mattgame does have some valid points though. I'm sure all of you had at least one friend who had a parent who didn't give a **** about what games their kids played and we always went over there to play games like Mortal Kombat games and the like. But likewise public school your exposed to a lot of stuff a lot earlier than most parents would like. Videogames that are in your house though are a lot easier to monitor than drinking and doing drugs at someone else's house. I mean if your kids playing a game upstairs and everytime you come in the room and he/she either keeps pausing the game or turning over to the cable/satellite you know something's up. I got busted a couple times renting games they didn't approve of (WWF Raw, MK I, GTA 2, Clay Fighter 63 1/2) but likewise I got away with it sometimes (Res. Evil I and II, Twisted Metal, Loaded).

As for enforcing age restrictions, like some people said, Wal-Mart and Target are very lenient. I think I heard a story on this forum one time where the Wal-Mart clerk asked are you 18? The member responded "no" and then the clerk responded "well, if anyone asks, just say you are."

EB and Gamestop though aren't like we absolutely won't sell it to minors, but when they bring a parent in they talk about the game like it's the most evil thing ever. I've heard a couple stories on these forums where the clerk says "You can have sex, dismember people, blow people up, shoot planes, start fires, have sex, basically anything bad you can think of, you can do in this game. Do you still want to buy it for your child?" Just like booze and drugs, kids find ways around it though.

Fact is though, to play this mod you need the PC version or a modded PS2/Xbox. I doubt a kid younger than 12 will know how to install it or even if they did a parent should easily see in the download history what it is they downloaded. I know for a fact my old computer my parents had a rule I couldn't download anything except music no matter what. Even though I cleared out my cache and such they still looked in the registry in found out what had been installed recently. I think people should be more concerned with real life porn then they should be with this. Porn you just need a downloading program and a video player. This especially if you want to get in on the console version requires a little knowledge.

*edit* My bad I thought that was an old Gamespot article I read. Turns out it is in the games code, no need to have a modded Xbox/Ps2 just a gameshark/action replay like device. Though I wouldn't call it pornographic since genitalia aren't seen (though the women's breasts are), fact is Rockstar lied about it.

The other day on Attack of the Show, they showed that it was deffinetly in the game, and could be unlocked with a simple gameshark. They showed the code, but It was too big to copy ...

Do the world a favour and don't have children if you plan on enforcing that kind of parenting.

Ok two things, One i think its hilarious that people are just now finding out about these types of mods, i can only imagine how the ****ing simpleminded media is gonna flip out when they find total conversions for games. Two, games have had this thing available in them for a while especially for pc's who is mod friendly
