Overall: A good game, as far as survival horror goes. A pretty deep story and some surprisingly chilling moments and visuals. While not as good as some of the best games in this genre, it is a welcome distraction between "big" game releases.
Gameplay: Easy to grasp controls, LOTS of stuff and people to kill, gruesome attacks and weapons make this one gory, bloddy fun. Almost an ode to the old school title "Altered Beast," when your character gets insane enough, you can transform into a monster, with upgradeable attacks...pretty !&%$@#* cool.
Graphics: While not the prettiest looking, what with being set on a faily plain looking prison island and a few outlying areas, the gore, character/creature models are great, and makes for some surreal moments at given, i.e. triggered, spots. The trippy camera affects are often unsettling, or worse.
Sound: Pretty good here, some of the creature and background sounds can get reptative, but as you encounter new enemeies, you can still get that sense of, "Oh my god, what's that over there, or around the corner..."
Suggestions: Expand on things a little, and try to make it a bit less linear. Otherwise, a good one from Midway.

Overall: Trash, I cannot believe I wasted my money on this, for the love of god and all that is holy, kill me.
Gameplay: Run shoot, yea! thats about it, oh then you can transform into a turd monster thing that dosen't get hurt
Graphics: good atmosphere thats it, good grief the characters were cool looking but strangely well wasted on trash
Sound: rat tat tat, F this and F that, common I know it's a prison game, but it's not OZ so it dosen't have to be so bad
Suggestions: Don't make another

Overall: Wow! What a great game, good graphics, great story line (very original), excellent at keeping your interest level up and a bit on edge. This was like participating in a really twisted and unusual movie while at the same time reading a really cool scary book. You want to keep playing to see how it unfolds. I had a run at it until 4 AM the 2nd night I had it because it was just blowing my mind.
Gameplay: Great controls, easy to use, easy to master the controller which is what I like. I want to focus on the game play and the action not having to memorize a hundred button combos, etc. Perfect.
Graphics: Very good. Not quite excellent but very good. I am a big believer in developing games that max out the XBOX graphics capabilities and this game takes a good run at them especially the final level. It is just beyond belief how great the final battle is. Get it just for this alone!
Sound: Very good. Played it in a surround sound environment and liked what I heard although I was more interested in the plot which is the best in my opinion.
Suggestions: Make another one. Improve the graphics even more. Give the character a faster response time when he needs to move there was a slight lag that got frustrating at times but other than that no advice other than come up with another great story to and even crazier monsters and situations.

Overall: A bloody good, sometimes scary, very twisted action shooter with a fairly engaging storyline. This game allows you to play in either a 3rd or 1st person view and I didn't really have any problems with either one. Don't let kids play this game, because its on the gorey side with a lot of naughty language. Most action game fans will enjoy this game, but unless your into collecting games I wouldn't purchase this one, but it's good for a weekend rental.
Gameplay: The entire game takes place on this island with a prison and insane asylum on it. The game starts off with you arriving at the prison and being put in your cell on death row. Shortly there after all hell breaks loose with lots of Guard and Inmate blood being spilt by crazy looking creatures designed by Stan Winston who for those who don't know has created a lot of the creatures in hollywood movies. The first few levels in the game are by far the best in my opinion with some parts actually freaking me out. The rest of the game to me just feels like an average shooter with lots of blood and does enough that it kept me interested but nothing that made me goe WOW like the first few levels did. The game gets kinda repetitive, but what can you expect from a shooter. I almost forgot to mention that quite soon in the game you acquire the ability to transform into a burly beast after you fill a graph that measures how ticked off you are. This is a single player only game, and I may play through the game once more to try and see another of the three possible endings otherwise there is really no reason to play this game again other than to show off the first few levels to friends. The controls are responsive, but the inventory system sucks because the action doesn't stop when you access it leaving you open to attack. I thinks its a cheap way of trying to bump up the tension when it actually only adds frustration.
Graphics: Overall an above average looking game. The creatures all look good and are well animated, the Slayers (neckless creatures with swords for arms and legs are my fav. The game even has a screen that comes up at the beginning to help adjust the brightness for the best possible experience. The framerate is real good and clean.
Sound: The sound as whole really helped the ambiance of the game. The voice acting is especially good and the music which there is little of adds a deal of tension to the game.

Overall: Very fun game. It had a lot of polish and was very addicting to play. It wasn't overyly hard or frustrating.
Gameplay: You go around the prison and island blowing things away with the weapons you find. You're trying to escape the island. The story unfolds bit by bit. Great interface. Great pacing. You can save anywhere! There are a few little puzzles that you encounter along the way that are just enough of a challenge to keep things interesting.
Graphics: Graphics were top notch. Very realistic. Lots of different locations to visit...inside and outside. No complaints here.
Sound: Sound effects and voice acting were were believable and added to the enjoyment of the game. I don't see how it could be much better.
Suggestions: No. Keep making good games like this.

Overall: In my opinion the game wasn't that good. It got really boring after a while and made pathetic attempts to try and scare you.
Gameplay: Once again I just got bored with the game and thought it was a big waste of time. It felt to me like you spent a lot of time walking aimlessly.
Graphics: The graphics weren't too bad. But they were not anything spectacular. They are not quite as good as other games.
Sound: I will admit the sound in the game was pretty good but it didn't make up for the games weak points. It was easily its strongestpoint though.

Overall: A dark and gripping game that pulls you in within seconds of starting the game. Within a minute you will be fully immersed in the scariest game youre ever likely to play.
Gameplay: Gameplay is relatively straightforward, but that is one of its strengths. It gives you more time to crap your pants.
They have created several new concepts in this game and pulled them off perfectly.
Graphics: The graphics are not necessarily groundbreaking, but that is a good thing because it makes for a good framerate. And with the enemies animation moving smoothely, this all comes together to make the graphics very smoothe and playable.
To compare it to Deus Ex 2:
Deus ex had better graphics, but was jerky so this game "feels" better in the graphics dept.
Great texturing and the random gore/bodies lying around which we all love.
Sound: This game uses sound better than any other game I have played. This is the reason this game is so scary.
If you have surround sound I would advise you to move your TV to the bathroom and play this game sitting on the toilet!
Suggestions: I havent finished it yet but I hope it is a long game.
No suggestions other than the usual.... MAKE A SEQUEL

Overall: AWESOME! You will love this game! It's one of the best games that I've ever played! It is totally immersive. You have the option to play in either 1st or 3rd person mode. I totally recommend playing right through in 1st person, it's like all of this crazy stuff is happening to you. It's totally awesome.
Gameplay: You are this crazy guy named 'Torque'. You're in jail, and all hell breaks lose. You end up escapling your cell and try to get the heck out of there. You get a number of weapons to use, and a lot of very scary looking bad guys to vanquish!
This is the 1st successful 'Horror' game that I have ever played. You need to play this game alone with the lights out. I WILL scare you. I had me watching where I stepped! I would go to bed thinking about some of the crazy critters that I had to fight!
One problem that I did find was a real feast or famine situation with the ammo. There were times that I had so much ammo that I was leaving stuff begind. Other times I only had a knife, so I was running for my life. I hate having to go back for ammo.
Graphics: GREAT! Nothing wrong here. Any game that can make you look at it with your jaw open is perfect. You'll love the setting, and fall in love/hate with the enemies.
Sound: Usually I don't have much to say about sound, but this game's sound totaly sucks you in. You hear your heart, and the baddies scurrying around you.
One problem that I did have was sometimes during a batte the music would start before the fight, so you knew that a big fight was coming up. Or the music would last too long, so you were looking around for a bad guy that doesn't exist.
Suggestions: I would love a sequel to this awesome game. Though in order to get a little more replayability from it, maybe there could be different plot options. Different paths to go down. Once you wrap this game and know the plot, there really isn't a lot going as far a replaying it.

Manhunter
Date reviewed: May 17, 2004.

Overall: The best horror game I've ever
played. I don't scare easily, but this game
had me trembling. Just conquered it and
WOW, this is truly what
gaming is all about. The game excels in
every aspect, from the concept and story
up through the technical details. Highly
recommended for gore/horror/shoot-em-
up fans.
Gameplay: You are Torque, a badass death row
inmate who may (or may not) be wrongly
convicted. He's African American, which is
somewhat original for these sorts of
games. You fight your way through this
Alcatraz-type island overrun by horrific
monsters. Pretty standard third-person
controls, with an FPS option thrown in.
Very easy to aim, lots of kick !&%$@#* weapons.
The game has intense flashbacks and Max
Payne-type psychological mind warps to
keep you involved in Torque's story. Not
only is he trying to escape this island, he's
also trying to figure out if he killed his
family.
Graphics: Some of the best visuals I've ever seen in a
third person shooter, although Manhunt is
close. Very gory, very violent. I loved
walking through the dark tunnels, the
island cemetary, the abandoned quarry,
the "D block showers". Felt like I was
really there. The monsters are very
frightening. I guess they were designed
by Stan Winstons studios. There's nothing
freakier than having a Mainliner hop on
your chest and stick a hypo in your neck.
Man, this game is sick.
Sound: Great sound. Midway and Surreal have
done an outstanding job with this game.
Each creature has its own creepy sound.
Great voice acting for the AI characters.
The sparse soundtrack sets the mood, and
the sudden loud sounds scare the hell out
of you!
Suggestions: The ending could have had a little more
closure, regarding the characters you meet
along the way. I'm really hoping for a
sequel: "The Suffering 2: Return to
Carnate Island". Great job!

Overall: The game is way better then it looks. This game is great in pretty much all departments. Very good game hopefully not a sleeper hit. It deserves way better. If you liked blood rayne mixed with silent hill this game is great for you except i think it out does those games in alot of ways.
Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty straight forward and with the gore and blood splattering and switching between third or first person veiws make it great. The levels are all pretty good and well done. Never get bored unless you are completely lost but that neer happened to me. There is also replay value for the three alternatre endings which are dependent on how you deal with human contacts which leave you with a good, neutral or bad ending. Story is awsome and apparations and flash backs are awsoeme too. The game play is more intence and way more fun then silent hill.
Graphics: The visuals weren't as polished as the could be but the character's and enemies looked great and were very unique. Some rooms looked the exact same and some textures got alittle boring so i gave it a 4.5. One thing i noticed which was great too is torque's (main character) skin will stay healthy adn cleaner when he is good and then become ripped and torn looking as he becomes evil. Animations were all good and gore was great too.
Sound: The sound is great. The music and stunning sound effcts and screaming, swearing made the game very intence and fun i loved it. Well i mean it made the game extremly fun. Voices were done good and the radio and telphone calls were great too. Lets not forget the sweet good adn bad conscionse you hear.
Suggestions: I think alittle more polish in some levels like a couple textures were over used and water could of been better but that is about it. I think making it a bit longer would be better too. Everything was done great and this would be a great movie!!! One of the best part was the a guy smoking up in the asylum. Then along the way you see his house and he has a garden of marijauna plants. Very funny.

Overall: Very cool game! I have only been playing it for about 5 hours so far and wow! I had to come on here and rate it. I was a huge ResEvil fan and this game it right up there with it. So any RE fans out there, this game is a must!
Gameplay: Great! There are a couple of different ending I hear so the replay value is good. The path you take through out the game effects the endings.

Camera can be a b*tch at times..
Graphics: Dark at times but hey, how scary would it be if it was light ;) The graphics are very tight! Great looking game. A+
Sound: Freaked me out! 5.1 digital A+ .............................

Overall: Overall this is one of the best games ever made!! Gamer creators need to make more games like this!! The story line is awesome, the graphics are awesome, the gameplay is awesome...even the sounds are awesome! this game is a must play!!
Gameplay: Awesome!!!I cant put the controller down ..... just wanna keep playing till im done the game!!! Can't stop chopping up monters and watching inmates get messed up!!!
Graphics: The graphics are unbelievable!!! especially watching the movies!!! If you haven't played the game just picture you a big inmate with blood all over you coming out of a hole and finding three prison gaurds dead, hung by their necks and one of them with half their body chopped off!! All in all it has good graphics!!!
Sound: The sound is great!!! Hearing the screams of guards and inmate just before they get hacked up in little pieces!!! I especially like how you can hear the creatures coming to get you but you cant see them and then.... BOOM they just pop out of nowhere!!! the sound is marvelous!!
