Batman Arkham City supports 3D

You won’t have to wait for a "Game of the Year" version to play Batman: Arkham City in 3D. When the game ships in October, it’ll have two varieties of 3D support built in. The Xbox and PS3 versions will be playable in stereoscopic 3D on compatible televisions, using active-shutter glasses. The PC version will include Nvidia 3D Vision tech to support 3D output on compatible TVs or monitors, if you happen to have a GeForce GPU.

In addition, the game supports regular old anaglyph 3D when played on an HDTV with "3D glasses available for the video game." This is likely the same TriOviz tech used in Arkham Asylum. So even if you don’t have a fancy 3DTV (and just a fancy HDTV), you can see some cape virtually up in your face.

Batman: Arkham City to Support Stunning Stereoscopic 3D on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 and PC
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment today announced Batman: Arkham City will be playable in stereoscopic and anaglyphic 3D for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and NVIDIA® 3D VisionTM PCs. Batman: Arkham City is scheduled for release on October 21 in the UK.

Gamers on Xbox 360 and PS3TM can delve deep into Arkham City’s breathtaking environments and immersive gameplay in stereoscopic 3D when playing on any 3D HDTV and wearing active shutter glasses that are compatible with the television. In addition, Batman: Arkham City supports NVIDIA 3D Vision technology, allowing PC players to also experience the action in stereoscopic 3D on GeForce® GPU-equipped desktop or notebook PCs and compatible 3DTVs.

Fans with HDTVs can enjoy Batman: Arkham City in anaglyphic 3D with technology compatible with all high definition TV sets and visible to players wearing 3D glasses available for the video game.

Published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developed by Rocksteady Studios, Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City - five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum- and the new maximum security "home" for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new, all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Batman: Arkham City is based on DC Comics’ core Batman license.
