i get my halo xbox on friday, ill tell you thenOriginally Posted by leftygolfer
How do you know you have a Phillips, they shipped today, able to be purchased tomorrow. Anyways, when I get mine tomorrow, I'll let you know, but how do i tell, I know it involves the last 2 #s of the serial #
Most gamestop retail stores have gotten their's in, that is where I got mine. But from looking on various xbox boards the drives are totally randomized. Some people are getting Thompson, Some Philips, and some samsung.
I hate gamestop just for that reason...oh well, I still get mine tomorrow. I don't care what drive I get, i've never had problems in the past...
Just out of curiosity, what does game stop have to do with the drive you get in your Halo Xbox?Originally Posted by Viper87227

got it at gamestop..its a phillips drive..only problem im having is that it doesnt seem to work with my x2vga adapter =/ the color blue is missing..i have to test it on a normal tv to see if its not the xbox that is messed up..otherwise i think they must of tweaked something.

With the crystal Xbox's in Europe they ALL have the new Philips drives, so far in this thread two people have got Philips drives in their Halo Xbox's and nobody has got a Thomson or Samsung yet so maybe it's the same with the Halo edition?

Actually the halo edition xbox has the thomson, samsung and philip drives, but heres a little myth and fact for everybodyOriginally Posted by darkfusion
Myth: MS no longer makes Xbox's with Thompson drives.
Fact: Many brand new Xbox's are made with the Thompson drive.
Myth: All Thompson drives are inferior and cause problems.
Fact: The very first revision of the Thompson drives used at one plant were less reliable and got out of alignment but since that time, new revs of the Thompson drive have corrected (or simply did not have) that problem.
Myth: Samsungs drives are always superior.
Fact: All DVDs included with Xbox have similar MTBF rate and no real evidence has contradicted that since the early Xbox releases (see prev myth).
So just relax. The new Thompson drives are fine.
True, my European crystal xbox has a Phillips drive.Originally Posted by darkfusion
Well, I just love being different....Picked mine up today and it has a Samsung Drive in it. On a side note, this LE is a lot nicer than I thought it would be.
Could someone post some "real-life" photo's of their new Halo Xbox please?
