Nostalgic products seemed to pop up everywhere in 2003. Whether it was a new spin on an old idea or just general reissues, the past haunted us in all shapes and forms. He-Man and the Garbage Pale Kids got face-lifts, Strawberry Shortcake and the Care Bears made comebacks, and VH1 reminded us why we loved the '80s."

Hero
Date reviewed: October 20, 2005.

Overall: great game to relive the good old days when you would fight with your brothers over the controller. i dont play this game often but every now and then you get an itch to play one of those oldskool games like spyhunter, paperboy, super sprint, or rampage. but for me not all the games are worthy of being reborn on the xbox so i only gave it a 3.5

games included consist of
Spyhunter, defender I and II, gauntlet, joust I and II, paperboy, rampage, Robotron, Smash TV, bubbles, roadblasters, blaster, rampart, sinistar, super sprint, marble madness, 720, Toobin, KLAX, SPLAT!, Satans hollow, vindicators, and root beer tapper.
Gameplay: i spent most of my time playing spyhunter, paperboy, and rampage because those are the same games i would beg people quarters for in order to play. the nostalgia factor is indescribable because it probably varies from person to person. the online rankings are a cool feature and its also a good game to put on when your little cousins come over your house and are not quite skilled enough to play ninja gaiden. though i will admit that even the midway arcade classics are still tough to beat.
Graphics: i would give this a five becuase it looks and feels the same as the original versions. But im not to fond of the interface where you choose the games becuase its not to user friendly and its tough to know which game is being highligthed or which symbol represents which game.
Sound: whats is there to say? except that the games are true to the original versions and use the same music and sounds effects.
Suggestions: the user interface in the beginning needs alot of work becuase little kids cant figure it out and it had me confused for a bit at first.

Liquid Gears
Date reviewed: September 11, 2005.

Overall: I liked playing this game a lot. It was a good throw back I think. But, more games should be in it in my opinion because the Xbox is so powerful and this game isn't a huge money maker so they should have put a lot more into it.
Gameplay: It's got the look and feel of the old crappy games we used to play when we were young. Simple games and simple controls. Smooth gameplay but that's no real surprise with these games.
Graphics: Visually looked just like the old school games did... crappy. But this game wasn't released to improve the old games so it did exactly what it was meant to.
Sound: Sound is same as the old games on here used to have. Was a throw back game so they couldn't really improve much and add anything of their own. Very clear quality though.

Overall: This is a great collection of some classic arcade games. This title includes Spy Hunter, Defender, Joust, Paperboy and so many more!
Gameplay: The game play is the same as the originals. The only problem I had was with the controls in this one. They take a little bit to get used to.
Graphics: Everything in all these games are from the originals, which makes this a very good deal for only $20.
Sound: The sound is from all the classic games, I love to hear all the old-school games in all there glory.
Suggestions: Keep them coming, just try to fix the controls.

The Jackal
Date reviewed: April 25, 2004.

Overall: It's a good game that really gets back and gives credit to the games which led to what we have today. Good to see theyre being remembered.
Gameplay: The gameplay is good. REALLY simple controls that stick with the originals. Would be nice with a joystick but still its good.
Graphics: Visually it sticks with all the old styles of each game and slightly improves them which is a nice touch.
Sound: Its got aaaall the old crappy sounds in it that the originals did. So it sucked because the old sounds sucked but thats what they were tryin to achieve so it was good that they got it.

Date reviewed: December 14, 2003.

Overall: Midway Arcade Treasure's "bang for your buck" comes from the sheer amount of games on the disk, and how perfect they're represented on the console. Apart from the difference in controls, these games are essentially what gamers played in arcade when the games were released in the 80s. Don't go expecting anything more than the games, however, as it was the emulation portion that received most of the attention; the developer didn't put much focus in giving players anything more than the basic retrogaming experience.
Gameplay: Some games are absolutely perfect on the console, while others just can't because of the unique arcade controls. Overall, though, this is a very fun compilation pack.
Graphics: The graphics are perfect on the console system because that's what was on the arcade units. But the video compression in the interviews is downright horrible thanks to old Quicktimes used.
Sound: The audio is, again, emulated perfectly, though the balance from game to game is not the same. Players will have to constantly adjust their volumes for each experience.
Suggestions: awesome job. A few more games and this would be just amazing.
